RIA is home to bright, passionate scientists whose work covers a broad range of addiction- related topics. Our researchers work in a culture of scientific and organizational support that nurtures creativity, multidisciplinary thinking and research success. Our scientists engage in a variety of multi-year funded projects that foster interdisciplinary methods of exploring addiction issues, often working in in collaborative research teams with scientists and experts at the University at Buffalo, Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus, SUNY system and other research centers and universities throughout the United States. In general, RIA research falls under one or more of four broad categories: the neurobiology of addiction; pathways to substance use, abuse and addiction; social and health consequences of substance use and abuse; and developing and improving addiction treatment.
