Sound effect and sound design play an important part in sound film. However, audiences often ignore sound effect "naturally" when they watch the film. In the thesis of "Sound design in Film - Identities of Real and Unreal" I would like to do my research on sound design in film. This research focuses on sound effect in film, including the relationship between sound effect and image, audiences' perception of sound and image, possibility of creating sound effect in psychological way and the reciprocity of added value. I would also like to discuss the fundamental and diverse functions for convey sound single to specific meaning. In the last part, I will analyze sound effect fidelity by using dimensions of time and space, discuss the difference between real sound and unreal sound and then debate effects of real sound and unreal sound on audiences.
