In this paper, I work through the Christian canon of conversion narratives to expose their discursive concerns related to the radicality of their conversion events. I then discuss the inherent problem with attempting to create a text that both proves and inspires an event by evaluating such teloi through thinkers on the event such as Jacques Derrida, Alain Badiou, and John Caputo, centering especially on the name of the event. I then refigure the problem of the name through different modes of relationality in order to exhibit how a poetics of the experience avoids many of the problems encountered by the conversion narrative.
