Date Kerri Kieser: An exploration in experiential art
MetadataShow full item record
This paper is an exploration of experiential art through the art project, Date Kerri Kieser. The project was an attempt to create an experiential media art project by emphasizing the event of the recording rather than the final media output. The project uses the framework of first dates because of a link between dating and participatory art in terms of their participants’ expectations and the potential for either a positive or an exploitative relationship in both of these situations. This paper explores the inspirations, intentions, methods, successes, and failures during the production of Date Kerri Kieser. It also serves to contextualize the project by looking at the work of other artists such as Marina Abramovic and Sophie Calle and at the writings of theorists including Allen Kaprow and Claire Bishop.
