Random bottlebrush copolymers with polystyrene and polylactide sidechains were synthesized using a "grafting from" method. The melt self-assemblies of these brushes were characterized by small-angle x-ray scattering. Results show that when these bottlebrushes approach 50% polystyrene by volume they will assemble into lamellar structures. In a similar synthesis, an attempt to synthesize organic nanotubes was carried out using a core-shell structure of polylactide brush and crosslinkable poly(glycidyl methacrylate).
