Academic achievement differences between Asian and White students
The study examines the academic achievement difference between Asian and White 10 th grade students. The study uses the database of the Educational Longitudinal Study of 2002 (ELS: 2002) to measure the effect of various factor on academic achievement differences between Asian and White students. The study shows that there is a significant difference in reading scores between Asian and White students. Limited English proficiency (LEP) plays a role in the difference between two groups. LEP is a predictor of academic achievement scores in reading not math scores for Asian 10 th grade students. The findings also show that socioeconomic status (SES) positively affects mathematics and reading scores of Asian students and White students separately. Implications of these findings for the data are discussed in the paper.
