dc.description.abstractThe research discussed herein is focused on the synthesis of 21,23-ditelluraporphyrins from hydroxymethyl-tellurophenes and pyrrolomethyl-tellurophenes. In order to synthesize the porphyrins the yields of the tellurophene precursors needed to be optimized, as porphyrin yields are less than ideal. The aim of producing these compounds is for eventual use in photodynamic therapy.
