Purpose . To investigate vocal fatigue in university lecturers. Methods . Eleven participants were recorded. SPL, F0, percent jitter, percent shimmer, and SNR were measured from phonated "ah" productions and SPL was measured from connected speech in a repeated measures design. Voice ratings were completed. Results . About 40% of participants decreased SPL in phonated "ah" productions and tended to decrease F0 and SNR and increase acoustic perturbation measures. Other participants increased SPL in phonated "ah" productions and tended to increase F0 and SNR, decrease percent jitter, and increase percent shimmer. In connected speech, half the participants increased SPL and half decreased SPL. Conclusions . Lecturers experienced either vocal fatigue or vocal warm-up. Task differences were found. Acoustic perturbations measures are not appropriate metrics.
