dc.description.abstractAC impedance measurement is an electrochemical method for characterizing the electrical behavior of a system, especially interfaces between materials of interest. Impedance can be measured as a function of frequency by applying a sinusoidal AC potential stimulus to an electrode and then analyzing the resulting current response. This measurement allows us to understand charge transfer dynamics in the interfacial and bulk regions when there is an electrochemical reaction. AC impedance measurement is often used in the areas of film formation and corrosion test. With this technique, the electrochemical properties of conducting polymer films have been analyzed. The aim of our work is to prepare polypyrrole films with different dopant anions and investigate the oxygen reduction reaction on polypyrrole modified electrodes, using AC impedance with equivalent electrical circuit models. The influence of substrate morphology will be investigated, where glassy carbon solid substrates and stainless steel mesh substrates will be used. The effects of polymer dopant anion, polymer film thickness, and applied potential on the AC impedance measurement will be investigated.
