dc.description.abstractThis study builds on work of Hsieh and Lenker (2006), which developed the Chinese version of Psychosocial Impact of Assistive devices Scale (C-PIADS) and established its preliminary psychometric properties. In current study, appropriate Chinese scale descriptors and revised instructions were incorporated into C-PIADS to help respondents better understand the meaning of the 7 point number scale. The purpose of this study is to evaluate: (a) the test-retest reliability of the C-PIADS, and (b) the extent to which the full range of the response scale is used. In addition, the associations of C-PIADS scores with length of the ownership, intensity of daily usage, and service delivery setting were investigated. The C-PIADS demonstrated excellent test-retest reliability. The response frequencies for the 7-point scale indicated that a broad range of responses were chosen. No significant associations were found between C-PIADS scores and length of the ownership, intensity of daily usage and service delivery settings.
