EtherCAT Based Real-Time Communication System Development for Bridge Structural Hybrid Dynamic Test

In the earthquake engineering research, Real-time Fast Hybrid Testing Hybrid simulation has received increasing attention. It needs a high-speed communication system to guarantee real-time response. The emerging EtherCAT technology with real-time, high reliability, high-speed and flexible topology, provides a comprehensive communication solution for Real-time Hybrid Testing Hybrid Simulation. In this thesis, EtherCAT is introduced. The implementation of a complex EtherCAT slave based on the FC1100 EtherCAT Slave Card and an EtherCAT master based on TwinCAT software is presented. Several experiments are carried out to verify the performance of the proposed EtherCAT communication system. The result shows that the EtherCAT communication system developed works excellently with high reliability and precision.
