The Economic Analysis of Microgrids Based on Energy Storage Application

In my thesis, energy storage devices use as buffer between the utility power grid and microgrid. As increasing demands of power quantity and quality, the utility power grid becomes more and more vulnerable. The application of energy storage devices in microgrid will not only protect the utility power grid and microgrid systems, but also unlocks more renewable energy generation. This thesis aims at the economic analysis of the energy storage devices in microgrid to a low-cost and widely-used model for more users. Firstly it introduces the global development of Microgrid. It lists four main energy storage technologies in Microgrid. Meanwhile, according to optimized capacity of energy storage devices and economic principle, it calculates the cost reports of different energy storage technologies. In conclusion, lead-acid batteries and lithium batteries are the final selection of energy storage devices in Microgrid. And this result can apply for more similar communities and practical applications.
