Vesicles in Magnetic Fields

This work investigates the dynamics of liposome vesicles in a static magnetic field. Based on a scaling analysis, a simple governing equation for the magnetic field is derived from the Maxwell equations. An immersed interface method for solving the magnetic field equation with jump conditions at the vesicle interface is discussed. The numerical model is used to examine the effect of the magnetic rotation number Rm on vesicle dynamics. The combined effect of magnetic field and shear flow is also investigated.
